The Forgotten Perspective: An interview with X
Posted by Peter layo Giblin on Thursday, 08 November 2007, 12:15
THUG LIFE

Who are you? Get away from my car
I am Hamza "X" Mahmood and I play for Magnitude Gaming.

Skeen skeen bruv, you're a well known LAN player, why aren't you attending i32?
The Magnitude lineup is relatively new and we plan on being together for a long time. We don't want to rush into any LANs and are nowhere near as ready as we'd like to be in terms of strats and teamwork.

Why did you choose not to test your team and your tactics in a LAN situation?
We don't feel like we're missing out on a learning experience. We've been playing together for a month now and have got tactics down on a couple of maps, but not all. All good things take time and rushing into a LAN, under performing and folding happens too much in the UK and we don't want that happening to us. Boot camping and training hard is our main priority atm.

Would you say its money, or a pride issue?
Neither. We are all confident in our own and each other's abilities and we have a dedicated management team behind us. Collectively we talked about attending i32 and as a team decided that taking our time and doing things properly before attending a LAN was the best way to go.

X decided not to mention that he just blew all of his gang's money on a PS3 and probably couldn't afford the trip anyway, even with a free lift off me.

Do you not think LAN would be a good educational experience for your team?
LAN always is. But all that we'd learn is that we're not ready yet. We already know that.

Have you guys LAN'd together before?
I have with a couple of them in several teams over the past year or so. With Ollz and Lukeh back in the original Magnitude lineup that attended EuroCSS and with Nup in cs:punK that attended Starbytes. I've yet to LAN with this full lineup though.

Who do you WANT to win i32?
I'd like to see Xciteuk do well. If they're on their game they could surprise a lot of people. We've been playing with Fnatic on a weekly basis recently and they're a great group of lads too. After diGitalsace teams will be more confident going up against them which I think will make them raise their game and they'll be out to prove a point so tbh I don't see anyone else taking it.

Yeah yeah. Safe blud, any shoutouts?
Thugalicious hug to Nup, Ollz, Immi and Lukeh. Shoutouts to TiLs, Jafro, Shivers (my love), Gabriel (Manager of Magnitude), layo, Beta, Rep, Kiriyama and all my fanboys out there.
