Porky: Hi there Carrel, For all those who
don't know you, can you please introduce yourself and give abit of background
information on yourself please?
Carrel: Of course. My names Matthew Carrel and i play for Team Coolermaster along with 5 others: Duck, Kentish, Speed, NaYDeN and m1ke.
Excellent, you're attending the i32 LAN this weekend, which of your members are going and what role do they each play in the team?
The team attending is as follows : Carrel, Duck, Kentish, Speed and NaYDeN.
Starting with myself, I wouldn't consider myself as a main fragger, but one that can do so. I'm more of a smart player than an aggressive one, and I always look for the picks when needed.
Duck is a great rifler and his experience shows ingame, having just taken on the main caller for us. Having learnt a lot from Aequitas(our singaporean super-caller) he is a very intelligent player and a vital one.
Kentish is a solid fragger with great individual rifling skills. Always a breeze playing with Kentish due to his solid awareness and gameplay. One to look out for in the future.
Speed is our main awper, and is superior at getting picks early ingame. Being our previous caller, he has a lot of experience by his side and will always be counted on in clutch situations.
NaYDeN is a very impressive rifler, and you'll more than likely always see NaYDeN at the top of the scoreboard. A must have in any team.
Sounds like a team full of talent, with it being so close to i32, what practice have you had as a team, and where do you realistically think you should be seeded?
As far as practice goes, we've been very sloppy for being on for certain times. Recently, due to a close knit side, we'll always have something happening to stop of from practice, but we've always got our soldier riz from leeds to help us. As for seedings, I'm not sure, i'd ideally like to be above the seed that eSource got at i31, but the official seeding escapes me.
Where do you realistically think you will finish at this event?
I'm not sure really, theres bigger promise for a more competitive LAN this time round which should give some very good games, and some fantastic ones to watch. Speaking with the team, we'd be unhappy if we didn't achieve a top12 finish.
Who do you think will be the top 3 finishers at this I-Series?
Due to the higher competition here this time, its hard to say. My guess is fnatic, salvo, mint in that order. I'd love to see a UK team take it though! Fingers crossed!
Why do you think the level of competition is so high this event, is this a sign that the UK scene may be developing enough to compete with the rest of Europe/World?
Well there are a few obvious reasons, the increased prize fund and the 'Turn up and Play' system, which will help the europeans as they won't have as much to bring over here. As for the UK scene, i think it has a long way to go to compete with the top teams in Europe and the US. Only names that really spring to mind as being challengers are Mint and Salvo.
Indeed, what plans do you and your team have for the future? Are you looking to go to the CGS combine etc?
CGS is a no for us as Kentish and I are both 16. As for the future, attend as many lans as possible, with the support of CoolerMaster. We'll take everything as it comes really.
Who are your unofficial Top 10 UK teams?
I can't say a Top10 without missing a team out. Will get a few PM's from angry teams!
At the top, i see mint and salvo. Below those i see many teams that on their day can challenge the top. Teams like ebuyer, xciteuk, TLR. Then, on from that its all give and take really. No real results to separate them and clearly indicate them as a top 5 team. In the mix, teams like cC, edge, CoolerMaster, PaperTiger, CTX and Tigit. Its touch and go between the 5-10th bracket really.
Ok, thanks alot for your time Matt and i wish you the best of luck at i32, don't forget that pizza you owe me <3. Any shoutouts?
Of Course. Primarily i'd like to thank CoolerMaster for their fantastic on-going support. Everyone affiliated with Team-CoolerMaster, with special thanks to Whitley and Kboy! Shoutout to our sponsors e-dimensional, Source Servers and Multiplay. As for the pizza, you'll be lucky. Good Luck everyone at i32!
