You’ve just played Infused-Gaming – a top seeded team and one that has constantly been there or there abouts for the last few LANs – how do you feel the game went for you?
Raisins: I think we did really well to be honest, for the time we have had to prep. We have never played de_cbble together as a team, and to get 11 rounds against a top seeded team who have been to LAN many times is good.
Camber: We were happy with how we played, the comms were good but we didn’t know map timings and rotation times and so on – so we were at a disadvantage.
This is the first LAN for four of your players; did nerves play a part in that game?
Raisins: I wasn’t nervous at all, I was just pumped to be here and playing.
Ice/Shadowman/rottich: Yes, we were very nervous.
Rottich: My hands were shaking, even our mascot hendoo was nervous.
Rottich you’ve come over from Sweden to be here, what are your first impressions of the UK in general?
Rottich: You drive on the wrong side of the road!
No, everyone else in the world drives on the wrong side, obviously. What are your impressions of this LAN event?
Rottich: I love the event; it’s a great atmosphere, very pumped. It’s been a new experience meeting all these people that you play online – it’s great to put faces to names. I really like how most people I meet are the same in person as they are online.
You have been playing on a borrowed PC kindly lent by Camber, has this effected your game at all?
Rottich: Borrowing Camber’s PC is OK, of course I prefer to play on mine, it has effected me as everything is different but I will get used to it as the tournament progresses.
You played a close game against Complete Control in your first game, which ended as a draw, as they were sat directly behind you, do you feel this played a part in your game?
The Team: The fact that we thought they could see our screens did affect us for the first few rounds, it made us very nervous, but when the admins stepped in between us we settled down and felt more comfortable. On one round we could hear their calls saying where we were even when there was no way they could see us. In a 15-15 game it could have swayed the match, but to be fair they played insane and we cannot take that away from them.
Camber, you’re the only player in the team that has been to a LAN before. Were you nervous?
Camber: I wasn’t nervous myself nerves but I was nervous about the team – meeting everyone and how they would be effected by the LAN atmosphere - but now that we are here together I feel very confident that we can perform the same on LAN as we do online.
You’ve been knocked into the lower bracket after your 16-11 defeat by Infused-Gaming, how does this affect your chances, where do you realistically see yourself finishing?
The Team: We are still confident that we can get a top 16 finish.
Do you think your placement depends on who you get drawn against?
The Team: No – it doesn’t really matter who we play, as far as we are concerned it’s more about what the maps are - if it’s a map we have played and practiced we are confident against any team.
Camber: We have only been together a short time so we have had to prioritise our practices and strategy to specific maps.
Given your reputation as being “onliners”, were any of you even slightly concerned about your own players not performing at LAN?
The Team: No, absolutely not.
Shadowman: I know I don’t cheat, so I was confident in myself and I had no reason to suspect any of my team.
Raisins: We feel that we have completely smashed the “onliners” crap now.
Two of your games have already been covered by the QuadV shoutcasting team, do you know why?
The Team: It might be because of our “onliners” reputation – we had a PCW against Team Coolermaster and got a draw, a lot of people were watching us and took notice. We have had a lot of spectators watching us, obviously curious - we feel we have already proven ourselves, but we hope to do this even more in the remaining games and finish as high as we can.
So what’s next for CTX, are you sticking together, will you be attending any more LANs?
Camber: We are booking i33 straight after, we’re all happy with each other and the team and for our first LAN we feel we have already done what we needed – but we are hungry to keep winning.
Rottich: We are considering going to Dreamhack in Sweden, but if we don’t get to that we will definitely be at i33 with the same line-up.
Do you have anything to say to the people who have said that you will fail at LAN?
Raisins: A big thank you to our doubters really.
Shadowman: People thinking I cheat made me attend this LAN, as a team we feel we had something to prove and we are happy with our performance so far.
Camber: Our reputation has given us a lot of press, mostly bad, but the attention has spurred us on to play harder and really come to LAN and show people what we can do.
Well guys, thanks for your time, good luck in the rest of the tournament – does anyone want a final word?
Raisins: Shoutout to Scorpz – I love him very much.
Shadow: To fyaaa the lan dodger.
Rottich: To disa my girlfriend.
Camber: Team HB, OH YEAH!
Ice: I love jaFro.
