The CPL asks for more registrations
Posted by Deathrow on Tuesday, 06 November 2007, 11:51
Angel Mounez has sent out the following email to try and get people signed up for the CPL

wanted to update everyone on the Counter-Strike Source tournament. Our tournaments are based on participation and we need the community's support.

The initial idea was to host a $50,000 64-team tournament, but it seems to us that expecting 64-teams to register is no longer realistic, and therefore we decided to reduce the tournament to 32 teams. Now that does not even look likely.

Only 6 teams have already completed their registration and another 9 teams are in process of registration. That's just 15 teams total.

We definitely want to hold the CS Source tournament at the Winter Event, but we really need more teams to register by Monday, November 12, 2007.

Can you help us get the word out?

playing CGS, or doing college exams. its just the wrong week alltogether.

if it was the week before then the flights are like half the price. But its 5k just for the flights if you have to come back 2 days before Xmas.

no team is going to want to pay out of their own pocket to lose in a gaming tournament in america.

add up the amount of teams that'll get their lans paid for and you still dont have a tournament.

gaming needs to grow before tournaments of huge calibre such as cgs and cpl can run alongside.

basically more organisation into the gaming calender needs to be done, its a long shot, but it needs to be taken seriously. its beginning the get to the point where this is a sport, and the scene needs to start becoming focused on how other sports became successful in order for gaming to take shape in a way which so many aspiring gamers see it.

all it needs is real sponsors, which basically means that its going to take fucking ages!

i32 managed to get 60+ teams worth of people, and I think America is a bit bigger than England, might be wrong though?
