SourceJunky Academy: Map Overview
Posted by layo on Monday, 19 November 2007, 21:06
SourceJunky Academy is a new series of articles designed to help you train effectively. In this first installment we have taken high quality overviews and named each area for de_dust2, de_inferno, de_cbble, de_train, de_cpl_mill and de_nuke (upper and lower separately).

First things first, every player and every team has different names for each map. The bottom line is there is no set names for anything, so we decided to make official SourceJunky names. We have used names which clearly describe the areas they represent, and used the same set of names across each map to help players memorize them. Maps with unique areas have been named normally.

Full .zip contains:

de_dust2

de_inferno

de_cbble

de_cpl_mill

de_train

de_nuke_upper

de_nuke_lower

The zip file is full of high quality PNGs, and so is quite large at 8MB. Download here.

I hope each map has a "gay spot"
layo Mon, 19 November 2007 - 23:45:53
I want to send these into CGS, so I changed gayspot with blind spot
ionbroo Tue, 20 November 2007 - 12:38:48

shouldnt that be same sex partner spot?

Just out of interest, where are you going with this academy project, whats the thoughts behind it and how do you intend to develop it. Would be nice to see a big story about the acedemy and your reasons behind that you are doing etc. That way you can start getting more people behind it and excited about it.
foolio Tue, 20 November 2007 - 13:21:48
I beleive it is to turn baddies into goodies.
layo Tue, 20 November 2007 - 17:45:19
The next installment will be aim maps of my own design, from there EU CSS playbooks and more - don't want to give too much away
vinih Tue, 20 November 2007 - 20:24:43
Basically he was privy to some of the xciteuk academy initiatives and has stolen some of the ideas and pre-empted us by making a "SourceJunky Academy".

The annoying thing about this particular post is that the names for areas of the maps the we wanted to standardise are all messed up because layo decided to make a bunch up all on his own that no one has ever heard of.

:/
layo Tue, 20 November 2007 - 21:23:45
i have nothing but love for vinih, although he can be a bit creepy, yeah yeah

"Basically he was privy to some of the xciteuk academy initiatives and has stolen some of the ideas and pre-empted us by making a "SourceJunky Academy" "

vinih, me and pete(layo)started this about 5 months ago. im sure the academy has only been running a week or so
vinih Tue, 20 November 2007 - 21:24:32
I am sure it was months ago that I was told about the idea and I am sure the academy as been around for more than a week - just that I wasn't involved and the teamw as called NS.

I've spoke to layo and I owe him an apology because it seems it was his idea in the first place so obviously he can do what he wants with it.

I still think the names are all fucked up though.

aww it missed the "leesthanthree" out of my post...
foolio Tue, 20 November 2007 - 16:10:45
your confusing me jon.
layo Tue, 20 November 2007 - 17:48:25
By the way, yes I did deliberately go overkill on how many names I put down so people can pick and choose how many they wish to use.
Bub Tue, 20 November 2007 - 18:28:09
You've missed a few key places and also named places the same as somewhere else
layo Tue, 20 November 2007 - 19:04:39
I had them double checked but it seems as though they've been released a tad too soon. I'll update and re-release
