Anti-Cheat Merger: EDAC & Prizefight AC + More
Posted by ViniH on Friday, 23 November 2007, 15:57
TNWA - the company that owns Enemydown, Prizefight and Devotii has announced today the launch of it's new unified anti-cheat system "X-ray Anti-Cheat" (XAC).  The biggest news in this story is that it is absolutely free!  This will no doubt be a direct competitor to the SGL Anti-Cheat system which isn't nearly as cheap.   Time will tell whether or not this new system will be effective, but they're certainly hyping it's potential.

"The client-side application, which cost over half-a-million pounds to develop, is available from www.xraygaming.com ."

"The X-ray Anti-Cheat software can be used by any community online event organiser anywhere in the world to ensure tournament integrity and peace of mind for players."

The full press release is available HERE .

I think they are the same. The press release says that XAC has been used at ED for a while.

lol i second that.

a free anti cheat for half a million, erm i think not.

if the budget was that big they wouldnt bloody announce it anyway. It is good that it can be used in any tourny though

it isnt a merger of the two, it is a new project.

What the end use sees on the client may look like a reskinned version of EDAC but its the server side where most of the work as been done and then changes made in getting it up to speed.

And Guvnor, when you take into account man hours, new server hardware, server hosting fees, bandwidth etc the costs do start to mount up.
